The versions that have been sanitized (stripped of their aggressive spyware) are OK. Unfortunately, Kazaa is the new Napster, meaning the MPAA and RIAA are going after the makers of this software next.

most do a good job good but remember that viruses run wild on peer to peer networks. I use and like lime wire but i download songs and or movies to a folder on my desktop first. I then check it with an anti virus to make sure it is virus free then i remove it from that folder and put it in the appropriate folder i.e my music or my documents folder. This way the folder that i download too is always empty and does not take for ever for the anti virus to perform it's check. Good luck and happy downloading.

LimeWire's great, the rest suck. Thank god for anti-corporate music delivery.

OK... So here's the round up. In terms of legality, they're all legal, but the files they share are illegal mostly. Best functionality? Try Shareaza. Gnutella 1, 2 and eDonkey networks all in one. A very basic BitTorrent included too. Great features, includes a media player, scheduler, bandwidth limiter, etc. Themes, the list goes on. Kazaa was my first p2p program from 6y ago. Haven't used it since. For BitTorrent, uTorrent, is the lightest and greatest. Seriously, there is no better option. No need to go through the features.
