Can Pet Rent be used for pet damage in an apartment ? I paid 300.00 pet deposit and $50 a month for 2 years in Pet Rent. The carpet needs to be replaced and they want me to pay. Seems the 1200.00 in Pet Rent should be applied toward a new carpet?

No, pet rent is what you pay to have pet while you live there, it has nothing to do with the deposit or the cost of cleaning once you move out.

Your responsibilities are in your lease, which you signed before receiving keys to the unit. Pet rent is your obligation.

Like Shannnon said. Pet rent has nothing to do with the damage the pet does. It's just the added charge for having a pet in the apartment. Your pet deposit will go towards all costs including but not limited to carpet cleaning/replacement.

No. Rent is the price you pay to use property for a specified purpose. Just as you cannot tell your landlord to take the money to fix damages out of the rent I paid over the last year, the same is true for damages caused by your pet. You are responsible of any damage (besides normal wear and tear). Repairs for that damage come out of any deposits you paid, and you are liable for any additional costs.
