I'm only guessing here, but I think it's because those guys look like they are self-sufficient, independent, hunter-gatherers, while good guys look like they are weak, dependent prey. I also think that they are assuming that when they become a "part of that man", his selfishness will include looking after her and her children as one of his priorities. Some good men will happily put the priorities of strangers above their own wants (and needs). If a woman "becomes one" with such a good man, she will suffer from his "selflessness". She is better off being a stranger to him, or so she thinks. Yeah, I really got no idea. All other ideas welcome.

Maybe because asshole guys are good at fooling people, as part of their basic asshole repetoire. And then, the women who got lured in suddenly realize "This guy is an asshole". Dunno.

They want what is mysterious and exotic to them. They don't want the guy next door who writes them poems, they want the guy down the street who has a tattoo and steals kid's bikes. i.e. They're dumb.

It is because the girls are more than likely suffering from low self-esteem... and the attention they get is somewhat of a turn on to them.... and yes they like the attention and are somewhat amused and attracted by these so-called 'bad boys". All they have to do is know that and also know the bad-boys are probably not going to make them happy.

girls like the danger factor. To think that you're with a guy that could at any minute be a raving lunatic is somewhat adventurous. These girls want to peg their own self-control and people skills against these guys' lack of self-control. They like to think that they are the only people that this guy won't get mad at...its a very complicated mentality.

Because females tend to want to "fix" people. We don't care to have the "perfect" guy - we want a pile of crap that we can mold into who we want them to be.. and not who they are. When we are 'fixing' someone - we don't have time to focus on our own issues...

Girls usually aren’t attracted to assholes. What you’re seeing is the deterioration of the relationship. Most likely, that asshole was once the sweetest, most adoring and romantic man ever. Women are a lot more forgiving than most men realize and it kills us to give up on a relationship. To us, it seems like we failed that man. If we had only loved him enough, he would have changed back into the man we fell in love with. Since he didn’t change back, it’s all our fault. I’m not sure why it’s so hard to see the writing on the wall or why it’s so hard for us to realize that the asshole was just playing us from the start and that he was never that other person, but love has a habit of blinding us all, doesn’t it?

Some women like the outlaw bad guy types, which turn out to be the ones that like to treat women like crap. Not all of them, but some.

I think most women (myself included) are attracted to at least one a**hole or skirt chaser. It is the bad boy thrill. Just like men, they date the girls they would never take home to meet mom. However, if we never met and dated that one a-hole, we would not reconize a good guy when we see one. So, thanks to the buttheads, good men are easier to spot!
