I think it is an option. Anything can be used in painting, so why not Arabic calligraphy? For instance, Philip Taaffe has made some beautiful paintings with Arabic writing.
i would say that it depends on the artist and his/her style.
personally, i think it is art. arabic calligraphy is extremely difficult to master (i am actually fluent in arabic and let me tell you, normal people don't write that beautifully!!)...
variations are easily possible, however, as is stenciling or copying it from another source.
it really depends on the artist and what they are trying to portray in their piece.
*perhaps you mean arabic typography? calligraphy is a bit different---so i'm wondering which you mean. good question though!
Is it against the law for being commissioned drawn artwork, like fan art, someone's character, or even scenery on paper or digital paper?
