how could you get by without it. You have faith when you sit down in a restaurant that you have never been in that the chair you sit on will support you without breaking. You have faith that the food isn't poison. You have faith in a great many things. You haven't researched the chair or the manufacturer, nor the food. You are believing without evidence that it will work

There are two definitions of faith. One is "confidence," the other is "belief without evidence." We all have the former. I have faith (confidence) that the sun will rise tomorrow because in my 30+ years on this planet, it has risen regularly, every day. On the other hand, many religious people have the latter type of faith, belief without evidence. What I cannot understand is why it is considered to be a virtue.
