Sodium Chloride or salt or Na+Cl- the chlorine steals the electron through ionazation, making the chlorine negative and the sodium positive because of chlorines high electronegativity thats why wen you dissolve salt in water it sticks to it very well, cussssssssss water has a dipole moment cussssss of oxygens high electronegativity(highest electronegative elements F>O>N,Cl>Br>C,H). If you try and visualize with me i will tell the compound's structure, for every were there is 1 sodium atom there are six chlorine atoms sorounding it. 1 on top and 1 on the bottom, 1 on the left and right and 1 infront and in back and the same thing for chlorine, there are six sodium atoms surrounding it.
