A place called It's About Thyme. It's a small place in Culpeper, Virginia that is FABULOUS. The food and service are both excellent and they also make a killer hot and spicy apple cider. I pulled this off a tourism guide: This lovely cafe in historic Downtown Culpeper serves up european country cuisine in a casual, old-world atmosphere. Owner John Yarnel works side by side with his daughter Joclyn, a graduate of the Paris branch of Le Cordon Bleu. Guests enjoy generous portions and delectable appetizers, salads, and entree choices like the the four-herb, rotisserie-roasted, pasture-raised chicken.

Jeez I've been to a number of great restaurants. The BEST one I've ever eaten at was this very small restaurant between Venice and Rome in Italy, somewhere along the way. We stopped in the tiny village and ate at this wonderful place. The first course consisted of a huge tray of amazing meats (prosciutto, salami, etc.) and cheeses. They had the BEST raviolli I've ever had. The food was absolutely amazing. All Italian food since then has tasted... mediocre. Just thinking of it makes me drool.

The restaurant I work in has some pretty good food usually. I've never tried anything from the fine dining menu, but it looks absolutely incredible when it comes out of the kitchen. I eat there mostly because it's free, LOL, and I'm poor. But if I'm going out somewhere that I'm going to pay for, I usually go to this Mexican food joint called El Charro and get the taco salad and some chips and salsa with guacamole dip. The food is pretty decent and you can have dinner for two for less than twenty bucks.

Edit- If I had more money, my favorite place would be El Gaucho Steakhouse. That place is SOOOOOOOO good, but it is expensive. Its worth it if you have the money.
-
I love Johnny Carino's for Italian country, Arzi's for Lebonese food, Bennigan's for their french dip sandwich, Texas Roadhouse for their steaks. Unfortunately, all of the locally owned restaurants that I loved have all closed down. :( Most people in this area like Cajun food and that is the type of independant restaurant that succeeds here.

I love The Olive Garden, although Portland City Grill was amazingly. (However, also amazingly expensive.) Portland City Grill was probably the most romantic, seeing as they have a live pianist and the lighting is very nice, that and you get to look over the entire city.
-
If I was loaded, I would eat at Legal Seafoods all the time. Since I am not loaded, have only eaten there once. As far as romance, if they don't allow me to get nude and have sex on the table, a public restaurant is not romantic for me.
