  • Hell NOOOOOO
  • We'll be perfectly safe, once that idiot Bush is out of office.
  • nonono
  • NO NO NO
  • good lord no...
  • It's not safe from itself and neither is the real of the world.
  • Yes, between airport security and going over to Iraq or Iran (I get them mixed up) and kicking ass, I supose. However, I am a little fuzzy of why we can't find Binladin and reporters can.
  • I think that airports are a little more secure, but the threat of terror attacks don't seem to be any less than before the war. So, No.
  • I'm not sure if there really is a such thing as safety to the degree that it can be measured, or if it's just a feeling or perception that varies between people, and within the same person at different times. Honestly I don't think anything has changed as far as our safety is concerned, there's no way to stop every attack, and one is all it takes. On the other hand I don't think anything that's happened since 911 has made us less safe either, whether 911 happened or not we're still going to have threats. But from my point of view, no, I don't believe we're safer.
  • No! Nowhere is safe now that religious maniacs have decided we are all infidels and fair game for extermination. They are also told that reducing our numbers will ensure their martyrdom by extremist clerics who brainwash people into hatred in the name of islam go figure thought religion was meant to be about peace and love what happened? I feel so sorry for those who follow the true path of islam which does believe these things(the peace & love that is ) they must be anguished beyond belief.
  • No way!!!
  • no,i think its gotten allot worse.
  • No but I think it is the publics fault.. We criticize our government, military, freedoms of the innocent and whine about our rights to be victims of anything we feel scared of, but all we do is tie our own hands behind out backs. We are little by little giving away our freedoms so as not to offend anyone. We need some "good ol' boy, country justice". Too bad if your boy didn't make the team.. he'll either try harder or not play the game!!. Too bad if your daughter wants to join the boy scouts... she's NOT a boy!!! Too bad if you don't want prayer in school.. be silent and plug your ears when we pray!! Quit your whining and help our country.. It was JFK that said " Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what YOU can DO for your country!"
  • I am tempted to write longer answer but.. NO!!
  • Yes, but we were totally wide open before the 911 attacks. So a yes vote isn't saying much. They will just find another way for future attacks. I often wonder if all these longer lasting 'colds' and new flu viruses aren't just test mechanisms for the distribution system of the next attack.
  • Still waiting for more answers. so far, it appears the united states is not well-protected at all, according to your response. Will continue.
  • No. US has made more enemies post 9/11 than before 9/11.
  • I think it is safer. they upped security a lot. But it could be less safe, because other terrorists could have gotten ideas from the attacks. I'll go with safer.
  • what is safe?- when was life safe? when was your home safe? they say you can get killed crossing the road.. but it is more likely to have a fatal accident at home out of all places. nowhere is safe- so don't give up your freedom! we will all die one day- so why live like prisoners?
  • NO No NONO NO NoNo No No No NO No NoNo No No NO No NOO No NO NO No NONO NO
  • To a certain extent i think we are. I believe that more countries now know that we will not back down from what we believe and that we arent going to let people from other nations do as they please in our country.
  • O gosh, now we have another group of crazies on AB of all places! Here's my view: YES! we are much safer, this war has ADVANCED defence technology in 5 years what would normally take 20 years of regular time (couldn't really call it peace). We have the most advanced technology in every field in the world! We are the most advanced country, politically, technologically, militarily, etc. IN THE WORLD! Let's look at numbers from 2nd half of 2k6 (these are rough and i've gotten them from grouprv and other places) American soldier deaths in the war: aprx. 700-900 Arab SOLDIER death: aprx. 25-40 thousand. Its important to say soldier since I have met NUMEROUS people who say we are killing civilians. Obviously there will be unnecessary casualties in war, but that happens in every war. To those that say we will be killed by religious maniacs, I say this: Wait 2 or so generations for the current arab extremists to die. The civilized ones already accept our presence in the arab world. To those who say that we will be infiltrated from the inside: Would you want to blow yourself up if someone walked up to you and told you to? To those who do NOT support the war: What, will giving the arab world another reason to say we are weak solve anything? When have politics affected terrorist and other's actions (e.g. N Korea). To those who say China will become a superpower: What, old soviet technology and an economy consisting of my plastic wrap and drinking straws will stand a chance to its consumer? Embargo=dead chinese EDIT @ midnight: quick addition, if you think that, for some incredibly stupid reason we are getting beaten militarily, ask yourself this: are you thinking about serving for a little bit, or are your relatives serving, at least for 4 years? Obviously I'll reciever retaliation in the form that i should be serving if i use that argument, but i'm a bit too young to enter the army. When i cna, i'll be in the reserve.
  • It is probably a little safer. I haven't seen any more attacks. But it will not be real safe until the last Islamo Fascist is dead.
  • Yes - short answer. The problem with safety is that we don't see any of its effects if it's there. If we are safe, everything runs smoothly. We only notice when something bad happens. Then again, even when we're not safe, usually things run smoothly, and nothing bad happens. Confusing the issue, safety is a relative term; you're never completely safe. I think we ARE safer since 09/11. We've beefed up intelligence and security dramatically. Preparedness for a terrorist attack is higher than ever before. Despite the fact that I'm SURE Al Qaeda wanted to repeat itself, especially with the anger in the Middle East over the Iraq war, we haven't had an attack for over half a decade. I think that says something - we've increased the probability that others might WANT to attack us, but it looks like we've decreased the probability that they CAN hurt us by more than that. However, being realistic, I don't think we're incredibly much safer. We're significantly safer, and it's shown. But there are still many holes in security, and frankly, we're getting to the point where plugging up those holes would require serious breaches of our civil liberties... we've already encroached upon them with the greater powers of law enforcement granted in the Patriot Act. Benjamin Franklin said: "They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security". We should remember that.
  • Yes. However, it is soon to change.
  • No. Because the Bu$h Administration has steadfastly ignored the problem before and after 9/11.
  • Based on everything we heard. tthe answer is no -- The war in Iraq has made us more of a target, hated by foreign countries for invading sovereign territory.
