He must have been a fascinating personality, because he was totally committed to his work and had a great, if sarcastic, sense of humor. And, as Jonathan Richman pointed out in his song "Pablo Picasso": "Pablo Picasso was never called an asshole. Girls could not resist his stare..."
This is difficult to deal with, therefore I must provide certain hidden facets in Picasso's life: According to Carl Jung and others Picasso was Schizophrenic. His sister died at age 8 and it is believed he had a deep love for her and other sexual issues. Her death traumatized him.
He treated his grown mistresses either like goddess or like floor mats. When these women were to give him a child he would stop working until the baby girls had reached the age of 8 then he turned them in for adoption except those he had with his wife. After child birth he would turn his mistresses away and turn to what is today known as pedophilia. Most of his lovers were under the age of 13.
Picasso took younger and younger women as lovers - women who were, in the eyes of society, mere children. It is the childlike virginal quality - the pure potential - of these women that attracted him. They were reminiscent of his sister, with whom - whether or not there had been actual sexual attraction, or contact - he had nevertheless bonded 'in the flesh', as it were - as real (i.e., embodied) individuals.
What attracted these older women and children to Picasso:
Although deeply loving the women and children with whom he had relationships in a way which they would find sexually irresistible he also seemed always to suck from them their very life-blood - sacrificing them, as it were, to his art.
What attracted them to him was his schizophrenic mind set, his lack of morals and excessive and perverse sexual drive.
Sorry it is long, but it is very difficult to explain without providing certain important details.
"drawn" to picasso? I'd say it's cuz their nose was in the wrong place or some such disfiguration.

You're reading What made women so drawn to Picasso's type of personality?
Comments
I watched this movie the other day called "Surviving Picasso", It was about Picasso and the women in his life, which depicted him as a complete asshole(I would have definitely called him that!). I have the book "Picasso: Creator,Destroyer". You have probably read it. I was curious about famous artists and their humongus egos and their charismatic powers.

Yes, I have read the book, too. I tend to agree that Picasso was not the social type (to put it mildly). Matisse also was not easy to handle. Total commitment to art often goes with social ignorance, it seems.

But it seems Picasso and Matisse had a warm friendship with each other. I was thinking also, a while ago, I need to realize this was a long time ago, when women weren't so liberated as they are today. Maybe that also made a difference.
