I think Whitney is responsible for herself, and has no one to blame but herself for whatever situation she finds herself in. Blaming her husband, no matter how big an ass he is, is just a way of evading some hard truths.

I tend to think that she would not have been influenced if she had not met him. She is responsible for her actions and people do stupid things for/with the people they love however I think her life and career would have been better off if she had not met Bobby.

If she wasn't on drugs before she met him, then I think he's at least partly responsible. People influence each other in a relationship and should be mindful of this "power" they have over their partner. That may not be a "politically correct" or "feminist" thing to say but in reality, that's often the way it is.

Being both a Bobby Brown fan and a Whitney Houston fan, I seriously wish people would stop blaming Bobby Brown for Whitney’s downfall.

“You know how you think that Bobby Brown was the wife-beating idiot who helped plunge Whitney Houston into a spiral of hard drug addiction?”

Helped her? Whitney is not a damn princess, Whitney was a street girl from freaking Newark, New Jersey. Whitney was doing drugs long before she met Bobby. She admitted it several years ago. Her older brother was a drug dealer dealing coke, he probably introduced her to the stuff. She was attracted to Bobby for a reason - they were into the same stuff and he saw her for what she was. She didn’t like how people treated her like a princess. That’s why she went to Daryl Strawberry and Eddie Murphy (who was into wild sex parties) before Bobby. Whitney was simply Bobby’s smoking buddy, not her demonic accoster who tainted some innocent little princess. Bobby and Whitney have always been thugs, she was just better at hiding it publicly, but we finally got to see her real self in “Being Bobby Brown”. She asked Bobby to reach into her behind and pull out a chunk of s**t for cying out loud. That wasn’t Bobby, that was her.

I don’t feel sympathy for either of them because they both ruined their bright careers. Whintey’s career has been dead since 1997 and Bobby’s has been dead since 1993 or 1996 when he made that comeback album with New Edition. Now that they’ve split up, which I think is best for both of them, they will no longer enable each other in their drug habits. Hopefully they can pull their careers back off the ground. It might be harder for Whitney because I hear the drugs have her voice shot. But then again, it might be harder for Bobby because even though he more or less can still sing like before (though not quite as good), there is a lot of public animus against him because people irrationally blame him for Whitney’s downfall to avoid dealing with the hard truth, like Bobby Brown fans have to, that she pulled her own career down and threw it away. Besides, Whitney was 5 or 6 years older than Bobby. She was an adult when he was still singing teeny bop songs with New Edition pre-1986. It's not quite the same age gap but it was a 90's version of a Demi Moore-Ashton Kutcher marriage. Whitney seemed to be running things behind the scenes as we saw on "Being Bobby Brown".

Bobby has enough problems as it is right now. He's gotten off of drugs and he's trying to make a 15 years too late comeback admist a sea of hatred and animus of Whitney fans using him as a scapegoat. Leave that man alone.

i think she made her own choices and its her own fault how things turned out. BB might be a complete idiot but he did not force her to make the choices she made.

Bobby Brown is just one of Whitney's many mistakes in life.

I think that Bobby Brown contributed, but Whitney is a grown woman and could have made different decisions.So,no...I don't believe Bobby Brown should have to take the blame.

My old guitar teacher knew the family for a while and he told me that her cousin (I think it's cousin) Dionne Warwick was a big cocaine user. So, my guess is that she turned Whitney onto it first. But, at any rate, it would mean that Whitney certainly was already familiar with the stuff before she met Bobby Brown.

Only in part, but principally it was Whitney, herself. But add to that the perverted mentality of the drug-using entertainment world and our system where laws established to protect society are not enforced long before these tragegies are allowed to occur. And we are a society that weeps only after the damage is done and are quick to point a finger to anyone other than ourselves.

Agreeing with Lyn, almsot all "downfallers," back to Adam had free will. Eve did not FORCE Adam to take of the apple, she suggested it. Adam chose to follow in her lead.
