I would recommend giving Ez Internet Timer a try. It's a very simple and easy program with options that allow a parent to select how much control they want over their child's computer. I use for my kid because my kid gets on the internet the minute she gets home. It can stop all on-line activity and block Internet browsers, e-mails, ftps or messengers according to my daily schedule. You can find it here: http://www.internettimer.net

Asking people on AB how to quit internet addiction is like asking people with a cataclismic case of diareha how to stop shitting.

I think the only way would be to move out to Amish country.

you need to find another Hobie if this bothers you that much.
    or maybe this:
    1. http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/
    2. Shutdown Utilities
    3. PC Sleep

step one is the web site
    step two is the category
    step there is the program

which is a program that shuts down PC at a certain time and makes it a little easier for you to get up and go do something else.

Find something else to do. Join a club. Go to a gym. Make plans. Keep them.

You can't, I've tried and failed many times. I suppose you could limit yourself only to doing things that are useful to you.

But really, is the internet that bad?

Realise that the internet doesn't really get you anything that you want. Like smoking, sort of.
