  • When the sun goes nova it will expand and swallow up the earth. There will be nothing left. Don't worry you won't be alive to see it.
  • when the big light goes out ... its all over rover
  • you never now it could happen
  • the sun is just a big star, and when stars stop giving light they blow up because of the gases they are made from, so the sun would blow up, not die, and the explosion would be big enough to hit the earth so the whole world would be blown up too, but this shouldn't happen for another 2 million years ....... i only know that because a person who studies the stars was at my school today :D
  • well before it dies itll become a red giant and engulf the earth with its new larger size then itll change to a white dwarf and be vcery small and bright then eventually itll just run out of stuff to burn and die...
  • After billions of years, our sun will become a red giant. The outer layer of the Sun will get bigger engulfing the inner planets, mercury, venus, our earth and mars.... But it shrinks on the inside. The sun will then be a red giant. So the bad news - its going to destroy us all, the good news is not for billions of years, which Im sure we will have destroyed ourselves and the planet long long before then. • I really do see how human life could exist, without the sun. earth depends on the sun for just about everything. When the sun fades into the west..... So will human life.
  • Humans more than likely, will never live to exist to see this event. In our evolution we are far to young to be concerned about the future of our race. We are to busy fighting amongst ourselves to be concerned with what will happen to our children in the next few millenia. We are a confused species, with the inability to percieve a future we will not exist in. Perhaps our children, whom we are the custodians of will see our great errors, and solve the problems of the world with a greater wisdom than their ancestors. If we should pray for anyone, it should be for those who are yet to be born, to carry on our human legacy and ultimately carry us forward with a renewed hope. I hope they are forgiving with a great understanding of our selfish ignorance.
  • Ok, it seems that people are concerned with what happens to the human race when the sun dies, not necessarily the earth. As far as humans go, if we make it 500 million to 1 billion years, the Earth will be on average 50-100 degrees F warmer than it is now. The oceans will evaporate. We'll be goners long before the red giant phase. And for the planet, it's a 50/50 shot. The sun will expand and engulf mercury and venus. Mars and the other outer planets will be pushed away to larger orbits. Earth could go either way.
  • I see we have some religious and scientific squabbles on this question. I'll throw in my view because I don't think anyone else has mentioned it. Most prognosticators and science fiction writers assume that the human race will have migrated to other planets (in other solar systems, not our own) long before our sun explodes and goes nova (or implodes and becomes a black hole CORRECTION: becomes a white dwarf). That's what I think, too. Assuming we are not wiped out by something else beforehand (an ecological catastrophe, a plague, nuclear war), I think humans will have gotten out of this solar system long before the final event. Your idea that we could MAKE a sun is a fascinating one, and I hope you get a chance to work on it in science classes, or in writing classes.
  • The truth about what will happen when the sun dies is it will become a red giant which means it will swell up big enough to swallow all of the inner planets incluing mars, venus, mercury, and earth. this is going to happen and no we will not be able to travel through space and find another galaxy and no god is not going to make another planet for humans to exist again, i dont believe god has that kind of power. Something i do believe is that since everybody on this planet is so materialistic and all everyone cares about is cars, clothes, and money, heaven is free of all of that and the only things in heaven are angels which are the lost loved ones. So yes this is true earth will not be reboen or go on forever it will be swallowed by the sun. A good quote that is good for the fate of this planet is "Nothing goes on forever" and it is true the earth lived its life and will die when the sun swallows it.
  • going to an new planet like ours inanother solar system wich i beleve there are other planets like ours will be hazzerdous due to bactrea we have never encountered or have an resistence to we could end up like the aliens in war of the worlds the newer one it explaned what happened to them at the end i allso beleve jesus will have come back by then and the problems with the sun wont matter where we will be :)
