Somehow missed this one! Decided to look up when the big talk shows aired. Knew each was "a long time"! lol So? Here you go: Merv Griffin (1962-1986) Mike Douglas (1961-1982) Dick Cavett (1968-1986) Dinah Shore (the interview ones of the 70s for talk shows ... vs her earlier DS Chevy Show (variety show) of the 50s/60s) Phil Donahue (1975-1993) Phil Donahue changed the whole format of daytime talk shows from interviews with celebs to talking about issues .. even taboo ones. Many more followed his lead .. from Jerry Springer to Oprah .. and a ton of others.
