Help answer this question below.

I have a slim ps2 and now it wont read the discs or the screen goes black after the the word "PLAYSTATION" comes on the screen. i was wondering if there is anything that i can do to fix it or if i just need to buy a new ps2?

does it do this for all the games or just one? I have the same problem with one of my games while the others will load up (very slowly) and then the games will lag or freeze at future loading screens. I think it's the laser and I'm still trying to sort it out. A good start are the alcohol-q tip or zippo fluid-paper towel combos and you should gently rub the laser and see if it works.
