Revolvers are the original point-and-click device. The rounds are not subject to the whims of a magazine. Dud rounds (a rarity, but they are out there) are no problem as you just pull the trigger again to rotate the cylinder and present a new round. Safety checks are easier as you just swing out the cylinder to see if it is loaded. Revolvers are more capable of chambering more powerful rounds in a multi-shot capacity package than a pistol (.50AE anyone?).

Pistols hold more rounds and are easier to conceal. You need more training and practice to recognize and correct the various failures that can happen (failure to feed, failure to chamber, failure to fire, failure to extract, failure to clear).

That's about it. Range of use is the same for both. Ease of use depends on you. Some folks like wheelguns, some like self-loaders. YMMV.

Automatics are easier to use because they are fast to load and shoot more ammo. They are also easier to conceal. Pistols In my opinion are more for the look, a little bulkier and depending on the make shoot as well if not better than some automatics.
I'm really not sure what kind of answer you are looking for. I being female like the pistol better. I have a small hand and the automatics have a tight trigger pull. If I shoot an automatic I have to cock it first because it is hard for me to pull the trigger.

Revolvers almost never jam or misfire and are easier to clean and maintain. Some come with longer barrel length choices which can afford better accuracy. Anything less than 3.5" barrel length is very difficult to be accurate with other than point blank range.

Most 45 caliber pistols will allow you to cycle through cheaper 38 cal rounds for range plinking and chamber the more stopping power larger cal for home self defense.

Remember, you have to pick up your brass at the crime scene if you use the auto. That could mean a lot of bending over.
