  • He is not unscathed. He is kneep deep into corruption. Will probably exceed clinton as far as scandals go.
  • Well here's an instance where he can lean on his lack of experience.
  • I was already wondering before all this broke. By simple math, to raise the kind of money he claims he raised from small donations, every man, woman, child and even infant in the country would have had to have sent him a donation. I didn't send him anything. Did you? I'd say we are seeing the tip of the iceberg as far as where did all that money come from.
  • I learned a long time ago about the Illinois political history and machinery. I have always been skeptical about any politicians from there. If fact from anywhere. LOL
  • As a Political Science major, I say, "Get the job done" and you have my vote. I don't care if you're Democrat or Republican, how tall you are, what you look like, your ethnicity, if you smoked when you were in college, if God can use you (as he did Moses - the Killer, Noah - the drunk, David - the Murderer, to get the job done, who cares... That's my take on it and I'm sticking to it.
  • I have news for you, if you think that was Illinois alone, you better take a look a bit higher. George W. Bush won two elections fraudalenty, invaded two countries on war, pillaged, embezzled and robbed from the American people like no other scoundrel ever did but the focus is on some lowly bastard in Illinois. Yeah, we have more problems than just that!
  • I'm not worried about Obama. I think he is a man of integrity. This is what he has shown to me and I will support him until he shows me something else. It seems, though that there are a lot of people for whom the man could be a canonized saint and he'd never be acceptable. They're just waiting, on the edges of their dunce stools, for him to fail or be exposed along the lines of one of their intricate conspiracy theories. I note two things in relation to this news story as it relates, at this point, to Obama. One is that it seems that Obama's approval ratings have not been dented by this story, showing that most people are intelligent enough to wait and see instead of indulging in a rush to judgment. The other thing is that John McCain, this morning, scolded the GOP for trying to whack Obama and stir up guilt-by-association fever before all the facts are in.
  • Well, he'll soon be our president, so we have to support him to some extent...however, I've always been very nervous that he came from the Illinois political machine and had so many tainted friends. It doesn't mean he has to be tarred with the brush of corruption, but it DOES mean that we should be very aware of everything that he does and keep him straight while he serves us -- just like we should ALL politicians. As you know, Rosie, I'm not optimistic about his election, but I do want to be hopeful.
  • It could be that he believes in a different way. Not every politician is corrupt or in it for the money.
  • This is how he remains unscathed. He's honest. There is an Ethics Bill to be put into effect in Illinois in January. Who sponsored and got the Bill passed? Obama. That's why Governor Blogo doesn't like him and wasn't so complimentary of him on the tapes. For God sakes he called him a MF. Senator Durbin is a Senator from Illinois and a fine man. Abraham Lincoln was called honest Abe. So there are some clean politicians from Illinois. The most corrupt state used to be Louisiana. I think Illinois has surpassed them all, but you can bet your sweet bippy that another will come along in future history that will overtake Illinois.
  • I think just because he is from Illinois doesn't mean he's involved.
  • Yeah Chicago is the Home of the Mafia but the press loves the mafia for reference or foot notes see Hillary & Bill Clinton. . . . GD Chicago their chickens are coming home to roost. . . Change LOL no plan what so ever and we the people ate that crap up. . . What me worry
  • Do you think the corruption is limited to Illinois only? I guess that what we don't know, can't hurt us, eh?
  • If you look into the history of a lot of states, you will find political skeletons, so i think it is somewhat pointless to simply lump this incident in with incidents that involve people who are in some cases dead. It's like me deciding every Mississippi politician is racist because of their history. Obama is unscathed because he had absolutely nothing to do with it. it's clear the governor did not even like him.
  • Using the number of guilty verdicts in political corruption cases, Illinois is number 18 on the most corrupt states list, according to research performed by USA Today. Singling out Illinois, while understandable given current events, only scratches the surface.
  • So far, Rosie, he has not been connected with corruption in Illinois. So I think that is the reason he is unscathed. Second thought. Stay with answerbag. Pay no attention to the small minds who write the hurtful, and ignorant things that some have written. There are small minds and ignorant people such as those who have been so harsh and who can't discuss, but would rather use insults as they ignorantly think they make their arguments that way.
  • i think he is cleverer than the rest
  • Anyone with a brain can tell that "Oprah's" millions are behind Obama, but is this illegal? Prove it. No one ever knows the truth in politics. Opposing parties like to start rumor, so when an actual truth comes out no one believes it. See my first remark, for example. I don't see Obaama as a person with much experience to lead a country. I saw him voted in as a "celebrity-type" figure. Most presidents rely on their advisors anyway, and Obama will be no different. As far as corruption and corruption throughout history, there are a lot of things that the public will never know. It's only been within the last 20-30 years that public figures have come under a more "watchful eye". Even so, they disappoint us anyway. ---------you're just a little naive to not realize that anywhere power is concerned, there is always a likelihood of corruption.
  • I am a conservative from Chicago and we have no Republicans here. Last time I voted I do not remember one even running for any office. Things have been so corrupt for so long that I have to think if it is worth my time to vote since it won't make a difference here. So, if basically all politicians have to be a little corrupt to survive her or to get elected, I can only assume that Obama has to be a little corrupt too. Isn't that all politics these days anyways?
  • I really do not think very many are trying to declare him ineligible. After the election, I think this is pointless and we should move on. Although, I think it is always a good idea to know who one may be dealing with, even if you supported him. The people who voted for him must keep him, along with any elected official, honest and representing all people. This includes people who did not vote for him, such as myself. I never liked Obama because he has always been vague, indirect and way too eloquent. This is typical of most practicing attorneys. Have you ever realized how many politicians were/ are attorneys? Attorneys are trained to argue any case whether it is true or not. I have a hard time trusting an attorney and this includes the ones that have worked for me. The same goes for friends of mine that are attorneys. They are just use to holding things back, especially the truth. They are also abusive of the system and they know how to get around the law. We should all know that the law is not just nor fair in most cases. My morals do not allow me to support and defend criminal actions of any kind. I would be a terrible attorney because I would just tell my clients to suck it up and take jail time. At least I could sleep well knowing that I was one of the few just attorneys out there. Maybe my clients would sleep well knowing that they got what they deserved. Well, I got off on a rant, but my point is still the same. You start off in school, then law school, then you protect criminals, then you become a politician with the monetary backing of the criminals you protected, then you owe those criminals a favor, then you run for higher offices being supported by even larger criminals. This last one is with the help of the legal criminals and you have a choice of which party they may come from....... democrat or republican.
  • he is a US politician... odds are he is corrupt based on that alone. I have no more hopes for him than the average politician... but I would love to be proven wrong. we'll see how well the masses are doing in 4 years.
