Is it hard to lose weight after 60? My friend has been cutting back/dieting since a week before Thanksgiving. He is only about 25lbs overweight and hasn't lost but a few pounds. He eats healthy, no junk food, low fat/carbs?

Is your friend exercising? He needs to utilize MORE calories than he takes in for his body to shrink.

He can walk and swim which are low- to non-impact - as is the elliptical trainer. He's got to sweat, once he's visited the doctor and gotten the green light to do so.

He may be reacting to high carbohydrate intake as well which can do bad things to an over-60 body. He may want to switch to leaner meats and keep the carb intake limited to very GOOD carbs, and fewer of them.
