  • Your bearer bonds were issued by a merchant bank.At the time of issue there was raging inflation in Germany. People were paid up to four times per day to keep up with inflation and multi million Reich Mark notes were issued and this would not buy a loaf of bread. However, the merchant banks at that time were issuing gold bearer bonds. If your bonds are dated 1923 it is very possible that they might be one of these issues. Taking into account that your bonds are for RM 10,000, and RM 5,000 they might be worth something. What is the actual wording on the bonds, does it say Gold or Goldene? There has been a big court case recently between the USA and Germany who owe over $400,000,000 in 1928 bonds, but unfortunately I do not know the outcome. I will have a look to see if I can find more information.
