Whatever you do, DONT QUIT EATING! Your hair will look dull and brittle, you'll have no energy, and when you do start eating again the weight will pile on. The quickest way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you take in. Exercise as much as you can, drink water all day long, and eat several small meals. Don't waste any money on diet pills, they don't work.

Excellent advice, there is no quick fix that does not harm you (and no quick fix in general exists or everyone would know about it). :)

Yeah, if there was I'm guessing we'd be a world of skinnies.

OK, it's now Jan 29....that's three months or less. You had better be prepared to only lose 24 lbs or so. Starting NOW, eat lots of fresh greens (buy the lettuce, wash it, cut it, pack it in paper towels and put in fridge in a big tupperware; it will keep for quite a few days and you can grab it anytime, along with other salad fixings and only use two tablespoons of light dressing. It's enough believe me), eat oatmeal with fruit for brekkie (real oatmeal, not the little packets filled with sugar), have another piece of fruit two hours later, keep little lo-sugar applesauce packets handy, get the weight watchers bread which is light and airy and make sammiches with low fat cuts and ONW slice of cheese or no cheese, and load it with lettuce, fresh baby spinach and cucumber slices, with mustard. Or buy those lean cuisines and eat one for lunch with an extra serving of veggies (the frozen bagged ones are the best, easy to heat up in the microwave) another healthy snack after lunch and then dinner and one more snack two hours befor bed. Try, TRY, TRY to get at least 20 mintues of exercise every day. Walk really fast around the block for 20 minute or walk to school if you can. Make sure you are wrapped up warm with gloves and scarf.

KEep doign this, stay away from all sugar if you can help it and don't drink diet soda or booze. It's a lifestyle change so try to keep doing it. It's not hard and you can do it. 2 1/2 to 3 months is short time but you can do it. Don't do anything crazy like crash diets and pills and stuff...that doesn't work. You need to keep eating in order to burn it off.

The best diet ever. Eat healthy, don't care so much what other people think of your looks, exercise on occasion, learn and educate yourself. It's a prom. It's a few hours of your life. If you need anything to focus on, it's the rest of your life.

Pills, liquids, fads, crash diets do not work! Losing weight "fast" is also not healthy. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs per week. I talked to my doctor first. Everyone's needs are different. I lost all my weight (80 lbs) and kept it off a year and a half now with Weight Watchers. I also got my bp/cholesterol to normal numbers. It's not really a diet so much as a healthier eating lifestyle....something you can also do long term.

eat healthy and start exercising, always works...Don't crash diet and all the little fad diets like Atkins and others usually are not lasting!

But Atkins isn't for everyone. I asked my doctor about it. And because I had high bp AND high cholesterol, he advised against it. I lost all of my weight and kept it off with Weight Watchers. Not really a diet either....it's a healthy eating lifestyle.

Weight watchers is very good!! except I would always lie to myself about the amount of points I ate...I need to get back on weight watchers though, and not lie to myself!

You just got to be in the right frame of mind. I was after my doctor got after me. The meetings and support were the biggest help. I'd always try to lose before, but I'd always end up quitting. Atkins does help you lose weight, but it is not healthy to do continuously. Everyone I know that's done it gained weight back when they went back to eating normally.

Diets boil down to a very simple equation ---

Burn more calories than you consume, and you lose weight.

Eat more calories than you burn, and you gain weight.

Exercise, different foods, all diet plans ultimately attempt to simply fine-tune the above equation.

There are plenty of websites that give you your base-load calorie burn, then add your activity, etc, and you can see how many you burn in a typical day.

Thereafter, you need to add up the calories you consume and make sure it is less than that.

You will lose weight based on how many calories you eat less than what you burn.

Don't get caught by all the bullshit -- weight loss is a numbers game in the end. Figure out the numbers and make them work in your favour. Thats all there is to it!

My favorite diet is the "Diet Coke and Camel Lights" diet. Works like a charm!

Why would you do that?
Don't buy a dress that's too small just for the prom...
The only healthy way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume... plain and simple.

I heard just recently that diets don't work half as well as keeping track of what you eat. If you could start a journal of what you eat everyday and what time you eat it you will be surprised. This will make you very aware of your eating habits. In order to change something you need to see it.. Good Luck.
