hmmm im not a judge so i cant say for sure. but when i did latin and ballroom comps these were the things that my teacher told us to look out for and work on- posture, foot work (they can be nazia about this), ability to engage the crowd, very important- your partnership dynamics! if u dont like or co-operate with your partner you can tell! one time at the state champs- my partner was so nervous (it was his first big comp ever) and he forgot ALL of our routine for the quickstep. We ended up doing the most basic of basics for the whole time, and we still won =oD because we danced them well and he lead well and i followed, acting- you need to look confident and like what your doing is easy, TIMING, improvisation to an extent- put your own personality into your dancing, how well you use the floorspace, not bumping into other couples!- so being able to manouvre round the floor gracefully! thats all i can think of right now...and i hate to say this...but i learnt that the saying 'its not what u know, but WHO u know that counts' some ppl are good at sucking up to the judges. as unfair as it is
