When an MP3 player has FM radio tuner specifications listed, is it safe to assume that it can receive AM stations as well?

    No.
    unlike an Am-reciver -which takes alot of fysical space, a Fm-reciver can be made really small -and therefore often finds itsself present in smal units (ex. Mp3-players), where Am is not present
