Help answer this question below.

Ok I personally LOVE the Twilight books!! My friend says he hates them!! What do other ppl think?? Do u like them or hate them and Y?

    I just can't stand them. The books themselves read like a highly private sexual fantasy, not something ever intended to be shared with the world. The characters themselves are just... odd. Bella is, at heart, a highly typical highschool-outcast who is something more archetype with nothing new or unqiue thrown in to add to her character.

    My biggest gripe is the vampires. They're just so... so... bland. I could tolerate the fact that some of them refused to feed from humans, that is just a moral choice. What really got me was the whole bit about being sparkly as a diamond in sunlight that made me shake my head and weep for the genre.

    The author also seemed to totally ignore what a vampire is, and instead made up her own brand of super lover and called it vampire. Again, they sparkle. Like diamonds.

    Also, the concept of Edward, a vampire of roughly one hundred years of age, still behind in highschool is actually kind of sad, creepy, and poorly thought out on the author's part.

    That being said, I still bought the boxed set for my mom.

    Ok, you asked...I'm answering. I don't like how they're written. I'm sure I'm just missing it, and I'm being a book snob...but really, I just cannot stand how they are written. I read a few pages of one of the books after I purchased it, and now it's sitting up in my bedroom like an orphan.

    I think what struck me the most (or the worst, in this context) was that it was in "high school", and seemed to be written from that perspective. I can tollerate books about high school, don't get me wrong, just not from the view point of a high school student.

    The writing, also, seems very sophmoric. As if the writer is trying too hard to impress us.

    Just my thoughts...
