Unfortunately, those statistics are derived from the visitors of W3schools.com only. Read at the bottom of the page: "The statistics above are extracted from W3Schools' log-files, but we are also monitoring other sources around the Internet to assure the quality of these figures."

These are the general figures also shown on other stats sites, although IE stats may go as high as 70%, depending upon the population sample. I'm a project manager over web development, so I follow these stats regularly.

Every article I've seen on browser usage indicates Firefox in the low teens, so to show it near 30% is very surprising. W3schools.com further states, "These facts indicate that the browser figures below are not 100% realistic. Other web sites have statistics showing that Internet Explorer is used by at least 80% of the users." The source I cite in my answer is the same one cited by news organizations.
