Help answer this question below.

Have a 2002 Chevy Astro Van. I have a ticking noise when engine is first started and stops about after 2 to 5 minutes. Oil changed about 1 month ago. Using 5W30.

    The oil level is ok. Will a heavier oil help or any suggestions other than replacement.

    Two things come to mind:

    1) When you had the oil changed, they didn't add quite enough oil. Make sure the level is OK.

    2) This sounds like a classic case of a hydraulic valve lifter that is collapsing when the engine is turned off, then finally 'pumping up' after a few minutes.
