I think she should wait as long as she wants to. I don't think a widow needs to go through a "grieving period". If she loved her husband, he knew it. What other people think doesn't matter. What does is that she go on with the life she has left -- doing the best to avoid depression and perhaps finding someone to get old (or older) with. I don't think anyone who loves her, including her husband, would want her to be lonely.

I'm in this position, being a widow. I am doing what I need to do for me. I could care less what others think of what I do and when I do it. I would feel the same no matter what the circumstances were. I have known those who have remarried within a few months of the death of a spouse. I have known those who never date or remarry. I don't know what I will do as time passes. I do know that my husband isn't here and would encourage me to do what I need to do for myself, as I shall.

If she's in the mood to meet another man, stand aside and let her go. No one has a right to hold her back. It's her life.
