Are ya'll aware that 'Happy Holidays' also has religious conotations? It came from 'Holy Days' so whether you say 'Merry Christmas' or 'Happy Holidays' you are basically saying the same thing. Christmas is a Holy time. <:))))<><

    someday I'll wake up and find out that I can't say "god bless you" to my kids, this is going insane.

    The origins of "good bye" also come from religion as an etymological evolution of "go with God". It's not so much where the words come from as what the words are currently associated with. Words go through a lot of change as time goes by and people and cultures change. You can't really expect to hold true to only a single, archaic definition. That's what makes language so useful; it's dynamism.
