If you were a 2nd class English/ Politics graduate with an interest in the arts, particularly film and literature and not much work experience other than secretarial, currently studying part time - what kind of job would you look for?

    Seems to me like a job as a librarian would'nt be too big of a stretch from secretarial work, and what's more centric on arts and literature than a really good library.

    Tough question, if it was me and I had those attributes journalism (yes I know its a cop out as it covers such a wide range) is where I would head, tough to get a break but I am sure you would shine through.

    There is always teaching, but it worries me the amount of people who go into this for the wrong reasons.

    The best (and hardest) thing is no know what you want to do, focus on who can offer you the opportunity and apply/hound them regardless of vacancies. You will be surprised how hard enthusiasm is to find...

    Get a secretarial job in publishing. You should soon be able to find a way to move across to the actual publishing side instead of secretarial.
