  • Yes! I also think its unfair for celebs to adopt outside there own country, when for exsample, The United states has a high number of orphans who stay wards of state to adulthood.
  • Celebrity's life has already been picked, dissected, shredded, investigated, explored and exposed in all possible ways by paparazi. Usually there is already a definite opinion regarding that person and his/her lifestyle and abilities. Although it does not truly justify any hasty adoptions yet we should give the celebrities a break.
  • What celebrities are you talking about? Someone (famous or not) adopting outside of the U.S. cannot be compared to someone adopting within the U.S. There are so many unwanted and/or uncared for children in this world just waiting for a good home, whether within or outside the U.S. And there are plenty of wanting 'parents' just waiting to take them in. It all boils down to what the wanting parent will 'accept'. Look at the racial diversity of the children adopted by, say Jolie&Pitt, Madonna, etc. Aside from the cultural differences, there is also the fact that these children come from 3rd world countries with no guarantee of solid health historys. The people that are waiting generally are the people that want a specific race and specific health 'state'. If you know someone that has been waiting for a long time, ask them what they are waiting for.
  • POINTS. Of course. Money talks, and celebs impress. For nothing. Oprah, Bill and Melinda Gates, etc go out of their way to do good. They all should. And we love them for the efforts. Rosie O' Donnell said she called 10 ppl the day of 911 & asked each to join her in donating $1 million to help. ALL turned her down. I'd like to see those that got RICH from so many fans, to GIVE as much as they get-- not necessarily financially. Maybe visit a cancer ward once a week- ONE HOUR a week.... When some have so much, it is unfathomable to me that they are given so much more undeserved [like $80,000 gift bags, designer gowns, lots of free stuff for mentioning items on talk shows. Like we'd get off for speeding tickets, drunk driving, shoplifting, assault, etc.] The ones that pay penalties are not A list.....
  • Is it fair no. Is it part of life yes. Unfortunately we live in a society that worships power and money. But think about this, how many of those "famous" people do you think are truly happy. BTW there are many rich people that do a lot for charity anonymously because they get harassed by both legitimate and illegitimate charities. Also the government makes it very difficult to adopt a child. Many people are willing to adopt children but the red tape is horrendous.
  • I think it is unfair, but money talks.
  • MONEY TALKS AND THE ADVERTIZEMENT IS FREE.
  • Good question. Yes it is unfair, some people try for years and it is really difficult.
  • It just pisses me off the amount of attention given to celebs that adopt from foreign countries, when there are so many children in their own country that need to be taken care of. Why don't you hear of national celebs adopting the "unadoptable" children right here in the USA? Something's wrong with that. I'm beginning to think its more about publicity than anything else. Those poor children. I also wonder, just who is raising them - their publicist?
  • Of course its unfair,, that is showing preference and there is supposed to be no preferential treatment in adoptive actions. But celebrities clearly get better treatment everywhere they go. And in most cases it is ok,, I mean,, they can afford better restaurants, and hotels, than the normal person. But when it comes to govermental actions or situations where the law is concerned, they should get no better treatment than the average citizen.
  • How do you know how long it takes? I have a friend that was on the wait list for two months and had two couples pick her and her husband at the same time. They adopted both babies. Celebrities may have been waiting for years. The media is simply only interested in when they get a baby. Additionally, if you adopt older children and outside of the US, you have a better chance of adopting sooner, as is the case for many popular celebrity adoptions.
  • No, it's another fine example of how celebrities can do anything when they flash some money in the faces of the less fortunate.
  • Yes particularly unfair when there is an age limit for normal people butfor celebrities that can buy the children they seem to be able to get a child at any age
  • Yes I do think it's unfair. Some of these countries won't even let Americans adopt yet American celebs can just go in there and buy what ever child floats there boat.
  • I thought celebrities just pay for them. Oh, and maybe they think that the kids will be better off with wealthy well known individuals, instead of people who seem nice, and then bring the Nazi Aushwitz death camp in the bedroom.
