The only HTML code that I know works is "ampersand nbsp semi-colon" which leaves a blank line, if it's the only thing on it. It also can be used to force a blank space between characters.

I've not tried too many other escape sequences, but I also know that ALT codes work in many cases: List of ALT Codes - http://www.tedmontgomery.com/tutorial/ALTchrc.html

Some HTML code CAN be used for your profile, though: See http://www.orangefrogproductions.com...

Oh... The answer to which you referred was created and entered by the AB staff. Remember, they OWN the site, so can do anything they wish to it. ;-)

Jim, I had a look at http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/29198 and viewed at the source code of the page. The word "Level" stands there as <b>Level</b>. <b></b> is the common HTML code for bolt characters, it seems that we all not allowed to do so.

Thanks Curtis. I appreciate the follow through. We could always lobby AB to add parsing of HTML markup. We could supply some killer comentary of whe could us HTML tags.

I haven't seen that at AB.

Do you have a link to any of those answers?

.
Maybe this was done by AB staff.

I'm sure you're right about that.
I imagine that at least some of the staff gets text control perks.

I am not really sure if it works year, but the usual HTML code is <b> TEXT </b>.

Looks like it doesn't work or the word TEXT would have been in bold. I also tried <p>Blablabla</p> in comments to produce paragraph breaks. That doesn't work either. Seems the Line Feed/Period Mark/Line Feed is the only reasonable hack for comments.
