Soap operas revolve around a core set of households / people who have been around every mon-fri for decades. Do you enjoy watching "their" December and holiday lives/activities/family traditions? Which show(s)?

Aaaahhh yes. That was going on in those early Luke and Laura story days. Good example. And no, I haven't seen it in forever either but there's still a part of me who hopes it (reading the Christmas story) IS still going on. Maybe someone else will drop by who's a GH fan and can tell us.

So do they write in the holiday storylines? Holiday parties, presents, who's with who and all that? I know Days of Our Lives does.

Oh yes, it was quite funny after Nov 4th, a man on Guiding Light had to go out of town to take a new job working security for the new elected president. lol

For soap operas? I watched three of them way back when ..
--- "Dark Shadows"
--- "Peyton Place"
--- then later I got into General Hospital for a few years. Yeah .. I was watching when "Luke & Laura got married" .. a big event in soaps .. almost like the "who shot JR" in prime time soaps. lol Ummmm .. what was that ... 70s? (My how time flies when we're having fun)
--- then it was indeed those primetime soaps like Dallas and Dynasty. lol

Now, as fate would have it, Days of Our Lives is the very soap my mother has been watching for decades. I've watched a dab of it here or there .. and know "of" the characters through mom. Now here's the thing:
(1) THEY have their holidays in their fictional towns .. just as "we" do .. not on a weekly episodes but DAILY. Even I know of a Xmas tree (on Days of Our Lives) that every year .. they would put up ornaments with people's names .. and remember them .. just the sort of ritual I admire in RL!

(2) One year, I sent mom several things that were Days of Our Lives oriented - just for fun. One was a family tree chart of all the families .. several generations of them. A really fun thing except that mom got very confused. You see, I'm the genealogist in the family as you know and would now and again send "update charts". She was looking over this fictional one, trying to figure out "which line" I'd found all those new folks from. LOL Poor mom. Cracked us both up though. :)
