It depends on:
* you have digital cable
* if your recorder supports CableCard
* you want to record analog, scrambled analog, clear QAM, or encrypted QAM channels.
If you want a lot of flexibility, get a DVR with a dual digital tuner, and two CableCard slots. TiVo makes a great one of these, but it doesn't have a DVD recorder built in.
However, you could buy a separate DVD recorder and connect it to the TiVo.
i have a non tuner dvd-r and it works great with the comcast digital box for television recording only .
Wharfedale DVDR24HD160 does anyone know how to segment a recording on HDD? I want to remove adverts from a film before I send it to DVD?

My AVCHD camcorder's video files have filled my hard drive so I can't add more video files. Any suggestions? Should I use DVD-R discs?
