Question

What do you think of our military's "stop loss" policy? Do you think this is fair to those who serve? A lot of our sons and daughters are not coming home this Christmas because of it.

It's not a matter of fair. It's in the contract. Shame on them for not reading it better or having a lawyer look at it. They signed the paper and agreed to the terms.

I'm prior service myself. Sure, I would be PO'd if I got stop-lossed but I would have no one to blame but myself for putting myself in that position.

Stop loss is a needed tool to maintain force levels. It may come as a shock, but there are a lot of people in uniform who joined the services for job training and college benefits (*GASP*!!). When the bullets start flying, these are the first folks to bum rush the door. Stop loss is a way of telling them "You enjoyed Uncle Sugar's good stuff, now it's time for you to pay the bill."
