Help answer this question below.
He was too old. Ben Franklin died in 1790. George Washington became President in 1789.
Because he was intelligent
Benjamin Franklin was a remarkable man. Becoming a President would have been a waste of his time and talents as a writer, printer and inventor.
According to what I read, he was President of Pennsylvania from October 18, 1785 – November 5, 1788, and office similar to what we now call Governor.
He never wanted to be a president.
He was such a great diplomat anyhow
and he has done a lot for his country
throughout his life.
The original GW was clearly slated to be the first
King / President of the US plus as priorly noted,
he was dead before GW took the office anyhow.
He spent most of his time in france.
Cuz BF was too busy being a dad, creating electricity, sexing up the wenches and a bunch of other crazy shit.
He was a "behind the scenes" kinda guy. He liked to experiment and think. The Presidency would've cramped his style too much. And he may have had some skeletons in his closet. But his fellow Americans thought enough of him to put him on the hundred. Hamilton, who also wasn't prez, and established our banking system, was thought enough of to be on the ten. What does that say about Ben?
Ask any Vietnamese today. Mr. Benjamin's picture is on the 100 dollar note. He had to have been a President.
That's what they think...
(I know he wasn't...)
He did us proud in his own way though. What a magificent mind. He was a most influential Renaissance man. Politics was only one of his many, many talents.
He was smart. He still got on money and they gave him a nice big $100 bill to grace.
Wait.....he wasn't??????
Because he died before he had a chance... which America may have been better off that way... some say he was a satanic devil worshipper and blood drinker. (google it)
The last answer is not correct. Franklin was born in Boston. The two answers about his age and wen he died are correct.
Maybe he didn`t want to be
Ben waz 'sicks mawnths shoret of hiz kallege deegre', sew did nawt qwalifi. Ben cood knot evan spel proparlee!
He was not born in America.
He was too old. All of the founding fathers were not of the same generation. Franklin was old enough to be the father or even grandfather of some of the others.
George Washington was also not born in the United States.
He never ran for office.
Having been born in 1706, Benjamin Franklin was too old and worn to serve as President by the time the office was created and the first elections were held. Besides, he seems to have prefered living in England and in particular in France as our first "Elder Statesman." He was not an especially good husband or father during those years.
He was never then why the #E!!'s he on the 100 bill

well that sucks, he is my favorite founding father, he would have made a great president...I wonder if things would be any different if so
by BobSaccamano-is-back on January 7th, 2007
I doubt things would have been much different since he was a huge influence in the beginnings of 'American politics'. It is fun though to think about because he was a creative-scientific-thinker.

yea, problably not, but that would be a fun concept to pursue

He may have gotten his way regarding the national bird. Maybe better that things fell out the way they did.

actually he could have, George himself was not the first president, he was the first president under the Constitution. John Hanson was the first the President of the US (under the Articles of Confederation) in 1781 and 6 others followed him before George took the job..
