that depends on your size, as for lenght I am 6'3" 215 lbs. and I ski on a 170 cm. ski, assuming you are an adult a 140 is a short ski and easy to learn on and fun to ski on altho you might out grow it as you advance and want a bit longer ski for stability again that also depends on your size I know some small adults that are high level skiers that ski on 140s as for shape find one with a good side cut (hour glass shape) this will make turning easier to learn and subsequently give beter speed control, numbers don't mean a lot here due to the fact the same numbers on a different length ski will give you different turn radius, DO NOT buy old straight skis in a attempt to save money, as for stiffness you want a fairly soft ski it will absorb terrain beter and not throw you around it will be easier to change direction on and will be more forgiving
Is skiing on manufactured snow as pleasurable as skiing on the real deal? Any difference in feel or is the experience the same?
