  • Yes!, and I believe you are one of them.
  • Yes, without a doubt there are way too many "look at me" types here. Most of which are competing with each other for attention and/or feeding off other attention seekers. It's usually pretty easy to discern betweeen a genuine answer and one that is designed to shock or be a melodramatic attention getter. Or questions that are asked purely for shock value. Does that make sense? Oh, well, I tried. BK69 you rock for asking this question! Mirage rocks for being less caustic in his answer than me :) Sorry if I offend/hurt feelings/ whatever, this isn't directed at any one person. God, sounds like a legal disclaimer!
  • some of us truely come on here for answers that's how i found this site. i was in pain and looking for help and answers. now i am using my experiences to help others. there are also times now where i can have some fun too.
  • Once the planned changes to Answerbag take place, you will be able to avoid such people, amongst other changes, if you wish to.
  • There are so many "people" that have shown up in the last month that treat this like "myspace". Their questions are shallow and their answers show very little maturity. The level of civility has declined. The irony is that these folks showed up like a plague of locusts and are pointing each other up whether there input has merit or not. AB has become a "mutual admiration society" of numbskulls patting each other on the back. The drastic change has encouraged me to rethink to whom I award points and how often, I down rate or flag q&a's that reflect no merit. What else can you do?
  • I think people come here for all kinds of reasons, and that is probably one of them. I will admit there is some change going on, but maybe it is time some shakeup. I still feel the majority of people are on here with good intentions.
  • Some people come on for attention that is natural , others because they wish to help or have an experience they want to share. Personally I have found much help just in the fact that maybe I am helping but also AB is helping me through a very traumatic period of my life . Just because it is here and I can have contact with strangers who are not emotionally involved in my situation
  • Just wanted to touch on my answer and clarify something. There is negative and positive attention which we all prettty much know. One of the great things about AB is that a lot people do share their personal experiences in the hope of helping others and a lot of people ask genuine questions even if they do only apply to them. I agree with Mirage though, the mutual admiration society stuff is ridiculous. People think that it's harmless if they give their friend points and ignore any of the other answers (most of which are typically far better than the one getting the unrealistic number of points based on the validity and quality of the answer given). A lot of really good answers, help, and information are buried under such minutia. In that scenario everyone loses. Mirage nailed it. This isn't myspace.
  • Umm.... Without a DOUBT!
  • Yes I think they do, I came here mainly to share information with others, and answer question honestly. I feel that I put alot of thought into my answers and it is very disapointing to see that some users are obviously just asking questions for attention; changing their mind about things like what their age or sex is in a question, if they have a husband or girlfriend. I do get a little discouraged when finding things like that ( which I reacently did with one user) It makes me think, why bother using so much time trying to formulate a helpfull answer when the person asking is just "faking" questions. anyway thats my little rant of the night .. I promise to drop it now ..lol
  • I was lost when I got here, but now I have so many friends I am never going home. Whats for dinner?
  • Yes i do unfortunately, and i am noticing this a lot more now that it is school holidays. I prefer to just be quiet, and answer questions i can with my own opinion. I try and ignore the arguments and the trolls.
  • Ofcourse not. I mean just look at me. Seriously...LOOK AT ME!!!! PLEASE!!!
  • Definately, and I think that is demeaning AB and all it stands for
  • Im not really sure they do, because who cares about getting attention from a bunch of people on line. I think people just like to ask stupid questions sometimes.
  • Yes,...has anyone else heard of Chubb Daddy. He definitely comes on here for attention, and a lot of people give it to him. I did at first, but now I wont even down-rate his answers. It lets him know that youre aware of him. I just flag him and wait for the moderators to remove him.
  • Every place has at least some people who go there looking for attention. It is not wrong. It just depends on how you seek the attention out and why you are pursuing it.
  • some people yes, some people no, we all come here for our little things, i come here to share my knowings with people and to ask people to give me their...
