Yes, quite often. It is almost always the shortest line.
-
If I'm not buying produce, yes. The machines always seem to mess up on produce items and it frustrates me.
-
I definately go to the self checkout. Gets me in and out quicker.
-
Yes, I hate waiting in lines.
-
yup all of the time, thats when I use up all of my change to, since I can just place it in the machine and some person doesn't have to count it all out!
-
Yes, now that I have finally got the hang of how to do it properly! I used to always forget I had to drop things in my bag after I had scanned it before I could scan the next item, I got myself into all sorts of confusion over it until recently! But now I have it all worked out I try and use it wherever possible to make myself feel smart, (plus it is often the shortest queue) provided I am paying by credit or debit card... I avoid paying by cash at them, because nothing p****s me off more than machines not taking my banknotes!
-
Not me. I tried them a few times and everything I did irritated the machine. Also, it can't seem to handle you bringing your own bags or bins to cart your stuff home in.
-
anywhere but walmart. it seems that being bare foot, shirtless, and having 11 kids hanging on your arms doesn't really speed up the self check out.. so.. other than were those folks shop, i'm a fan of the self check out!
-
I am scared to try in case i mess it up, the ones i have watched putting their own shopping through, seem to be confident, but still the machine seems to get things wrong.
-
I really dislike those things! They are a similar torture to automated telephone systems. If they stopped trying to be clever by weighing the goods to check if they are in your bag or not (this feature is completely faulty), maybe I will give them another try.

I always use the self-checkout at Wal-Mart. It is alot easier than having to stand in line for the cashiers to get through. It always seems, no matter what day or what time of day, that I get into the line where the cashier is "chatty" and wants to talk to everyone and have a 30 min. conversation with the patrons. I have a 2 year old, and I just want to get in and out of there ASAP! I've hardly had any trouble with them, just when they first went in. Now they're no trouble at all.
-
Sometimes I do. It depends upon the overall lines for check out; and as mentioned how much if any produce I have. The machines can be a pain sometimes!
-
I prefer the use of the self checkout and use it often unless I have a large quantity of items. To me the self checkout was created for people with less items (expanded express lane) so if I roll up there with 2 baskets full... then I am keeping other customers from getting out quickly. I will use the cashier. Another time I use the cashier over the self checkout is when my wife is with me. LOL she screws up my rhythm and it ends up taking longer :)
-
yes especially when im buying things other people dont need to see, condums, pregnancy tests, tampons...
-
Yes and I greatly enjoy doing so.
-
no. it's my luck to miss something,then.....
-
Yes they have a shorter lines. Only problem is that when you mess up something it can be really hard to fix it.
-
sometimes; the ones at our stores are so annoying though. every time I scan an item it says please place item back in the bag or see cashier for help. self scan is much slower than a cashier
-
My grocery store does not have one 0_0
-
I do, but I always need human intervention anyway. So what is the point? Either the item refuses to scan and they need to re-set something or I have to hand them coupons.
-
I use them if they're there. They have shorter lines and it takes a lot less time. They can be a pain if you have alcohol or things that need to be weighed, but otherwise, I'm there.
-
I resisted at first and now I like it and use it.
-
Yes, unless I have a lot of items or a lot of produce. If you only have a few items they can be a very convenient way to avoid long lines.
-
i avoid it. it takes jobs from folks who need them.
-
we dont even have self check outs here.. how ripped off..
-
nope
-
There was a self check out somewhere in queensland, maybe pac fair? where I used the self checkout, surprisingly easy to operate.
-
I figure if I am paying full price for an item and that includes somebody checking me out and sacking my purchases, then I am going to a cashier. If the store wants to provide a discount for me to use the self-checkout lane, then I will check myself out and sack my own groceries. Part of the price I pay is for the service. The same thing applies to the use of a credit card. The merchant has to pay the credit card company a certain percentage of every amount that is charged. Now, if the merchant wants to provide me with a discount not to use my credit card, then I will be glad to pay by cash. Otherwise, I am being charged full price regardless so I am going to use my credit card.
-
All the time goes faster.
-
As long as I don't have a lot of items... if its under like 15 items with nothing huge I do self checkout...
