  • All I wanted was something to eat. I didn't feel any different than that.
  • It felt good! I didn't get dizzy or lightheaded, or anything like that. They gave me juice to drink while I was giving blood. They made me sit for about five minutes, just to make sure I wasn't dizzy, and could walk ok. I had a good experience, with no problems.
  • It was okay, I'm glad I got to miss football practice.
  • felt faint and tired for a few hours - thought I was going to fall over immediately afterwards!
  • I felt great knowing I was helping someone I didn't even know. I continue giving to this day.
  • I'm 22 days too young, but I plan on giving blood this month :)
  • I was SO excited to finally get to. It was my 18th birthday and the blood drive people came to my school. After I was done giving blood I threw up and passed out. They kept an eye on me for a few minutes but I did it again so they took me to the hospital. The guy tried 4 times in the same hole in the back of the ambulance to get the fluid bag in but couldn't. When I got to the hospital I was shivering uncontrolably. They had like 7 heated blankets on me but I was freezing and pale and my lips were turing blue. After a couple hours and a couple fluid bags I was home. Needless to say, worst birthday ever. I wanted so bad to give blood but was always too young, then when I fianlly got to, it all blew up. I don't know if they even actually took my blood. To this day I am sad about not getting to help more people.
  • I felt an extreme sense of salvation when i gave the blood of a goat to my lord and master
  • a little lightheaded and sick to my stomach...oh, but that's everyday...duh...i got a sticker and some cranberry juice and a donut....I like giving blood.
  • i wanted to help out soo bad! as SOON as the needle went in my arm, i fell right over (fainted) so they ddin't take any :(
  • I stopped at a local Red Cross office to give blood the first time. I answered all the questions and then they took my blood and told me to relax for a couple of minutes. After a couple of minutes, I got up and went outside to catch the bus home and have a smoke. I guess they tell you about not smoking for an hour after donating, when they come back and take you to the room where you can have cookies and coffee or juice. I came to back in the donating chair (very comfy, must find and buy) with a beautiful nurse wiping my face with a cold cloth. How did it feel? The lump on the back of my head hurt like a bugger.
  • It felt great! I was in high school, and I got to miss class to give blood so that was nice. But also, it felt good to be doing something for such a great cause. I didn't have any adverse affects at all...it was quick and painless. Plus, I got cookies and a t-shirt! I still give blood as often as possible.
  • I never have. I can't. My hemoglobin is always 3 points below normal. I used to take medicine for it, but I got tired of taking so many pills so I just quit:/
  • I was a freshman in college, and I thought it was very cool. I was a little nervous, since a friend of mine passed out while donating blood, but when it was over I wondered what I'd been afraid of. I had no reactions the first time, and just enjoyed the post-donation cookies. (Chocolate-chip, I think.) I've become a bit lightheaded after a few donations, but usually that's because I haven't had enough to drink before donating. A good lesson is to keep yourself well-hydrated! :-)
  • I nearly passed out because I hadn't had anything to eat before giving it.
