  • Usually when the steering column locks you can't turn the key. Try jiggling the steering wheel while you are turning the key.
  • "Jiggle the key" might sound like a pretty lame answer, and no one blames you for being upset, but did you try it? I've had the same thing happen, and putting some turning pressure on the steering wheel is one of the things that usually does the trick if I shut the ignition off with the steering wheel turned extreme left/right. Now, if there's no tension on the steering wheel(steering wheel moves back and forth freely) and you STILL have to jiggle the key, the dealer owes you a repair and a loaner car while they fix the lock.
