8 o'clock is great is you are restricting yourself to normal stores.

But for best taste don't buy the pre-ground. Buy the whole bean and if you don't have a grinder at home (or are lazy) use the in-store grinder and grind it FINE, as in two clicks past Espresso.

The only way to find the answer that suits you best is to try them, and pick your own favorite. I totally agree with tomsims. Buy whole bean and grind your own. It makes the biggest difference in the freshness. As soon as the bean is ground, it begins to oxidize, which alters the flavor.

I have stomach problems and can no longer drink pre-ground coffee. Fresh ground doesn't bother me at all, and it tastes far better.

If I HAVE to buy off the shelf, it will be Folgers.

Otherwise, I prefer fresh-roasted (right there at their shop) Indian River Coffee.

A local shop, they even sell roasters so you can roast your own beans at home.

Why leave out Starbucks? That would be like asking, "What's your favorite color? Leave out blue."

Personally, I only buy Starbucks to brew at home. My favorite is Sumatra.

I buy beans out the bins - either french roast or expresso roast - sometimes other that appeal to me. I smell the beans in the store and that tells me if it is something I like. I really recomend grinding beans. It keeps them fresh and grinders are very inexpensive. You will also save money on coffee that way.

You'd have to pay me to drink Starbucks...their beans taste burned to me! My favorite of all is
http://www.mayorgacoffee.com/ You can order on line...although if your Cost co is on their road show list that's the most cost effective way to buy it. They are a bit pricey for the amount on line, you get a bigger bag at Cost co.

At a regular store...hummm it's been a long time since I bought that type of commercial coffee. I would say...try different ones, beans over pre-ground types...grinders are pretty cheap and it does taste better.

The real factor though is the ROASTING of the beans...a great roaster will make or break the taste of the coffee.

There are two foods I admit I'm a snob over...Coffee and Cheese...and I do get teased about it, and I don't care...life is short..there are worse passions out there that cost more!

Clean your coffee maker with baking soda and a brush of some sort for the removable parts, including the glass pot..if that's what you have; and run white vinegar through it at least once a month...following up with several flushings of water. If you can, use a permanent filter, not paper, unless you are going to use unbleached paper filters. Clean the permanent filter with baking soda and your fingers.

Are you looking for instant or for brewing? Try Davidoff or Nescafe's Taster's choice as Instant coffee.
