Help answer this question below.

I JUST GOT A PURE BREED MALTESE DOG FROM THE SPCA. HE WAS VERY SKINNY. I HAVE HAD HIM AT 3 DIFFERENT VETS.. THE LAST VET TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD FEED HIM WHATEVER HE WANTS. THE ONLY THING HE WILL EAT RIGHT NOW IS CAT TREATS AND MEAT BABY FOOD.ANYTHING ELSE?

    Have you looked into raw feeding?

    Either that or try cooking up some chicken, ground beef, and other meats... I haven't found a dog that will turn up real food. Kibble ("dog food) isn't very interesting or the best for the dog. Also try cooking up some oatmeal using some broth (chicken, beef,etc) in place of water and see if he'll eat that.

    He needs to eat other things or he will die. Exercise this dog, for 1/2 hour or one whole hour at a time. He needs a job, work, play, activity. Make him walk and run. Try making him eat at set mealtimes with other dogs so he has to be quick about eating, with some competition. Feed him some raw chicken neck bones or backs. Stop feeding him cat treats and baby food. Make sure he has been wormed.

    If the vets checked him and he is healthy other than the eating, then set the food down for a time let him think about eating it. If he doesn't eat in 10-15 minutes, remove the food and try in 8-12 hours. Repeat. He will eat. Don't spoil and coddle the dog. It will only make him worse and sicker and weaker.
