  • I use Picasa. It has a "sharpen" feature.
  • You can't, not really. Let me explain how "sharpening" filters work in programs like Photoshop: These filters look at all the pixels in the image, and based on the settings you select for the filter, will compare adjacent pixels. If the pixels are different enough (again, based on your chosen settings), the program will simply enhance the contrast of the places where one color or value is adjacent to another, providing the illusion of a sharpened edge. Keep in mind the oldest programming axiom: Garbage In, Garbage Out. If your photo is blurry to begin with, there's very little you can do to legitimately sharpen it. At best, you can only provide the illusion of sharper edges.
  • In Paint Shop Pro X2 ultimate there is a tool called : Sharpen Out-of-Focus Pictures Turn fuzzy photos into crisp images, without compressing or degrading the quality of the image.
  • Photoshop is the most sophisticated software to do what you want. Photoshop is expensive and has an extended learning curve and is probably not worth the money or the time unless you plan on using it a lot in the future. It is also very limited in making fuzzy (out of focus) sharp and really only works well if the image is just a tiny bit out of focus.
