The scar tissue on my pierced earlobes are swollen and irritated. The piercings are 5 years old and is the first time something like this has happened. Could this be a sign of a nickel allergy?

    I think it is. It happened to me with a belt buckle. I used the same silver belt for years, when it suddenly gave me a rash. I developed a nickel allergy.

    Gold-colored metals do not irritate the skin because the golden coating is made of different metals than the nickel underneath. Try wearing gold earrings. A steroid cream may be needed to get the rash to go away

    This could be a sign of a nickel allergy. I recommend you find out whether it is - otherwise it can go from a rash to a scar.
