Phencyclidine. It's a piperidine derivative originally designed as a dissociative anaesthetic (in other words, it prevents the brain from processing sensory input, much like ketamine). Tested on humans in the 1950s, it was withdrawn due to reports of postoperative problems, including anxiety, delusional states and psychosis. Surprisingly, the neuropharmacological interactions are poorly understood, perhaps owing to the fact that there is a very large amount of effects.

Today, almost all PCP is illegaly synthesized and sold as "angel dust". In low doses, PCP induces euphoria, often followed by anxiety or mood lability. In higher doses, the user may experience catatonia, ataxia, dysarthria, muscular hypertonicity and myoclonic jerks. Unlike other CNS stimulants (such as amphetamines or cocaine, which gives the user a dry mouth), PCP induces excessive salivation.

With extremely high doses, coma, convulsion and hypertension may occur. Few deaths are reported.
