Question

Help answer this question below.

What does the "signature" in "signature smile" mean? I *do* understand the general meaning of the idiom. However, I don't know what image of the "signature" is supposed to conjure up. Any native speaker of English should be able to help me with that ;)

I believe using the term "signature" before certain words:
Smile, move, phrase, etc. just indicates that action is very particular and characteristic to the person that uses it.
Something that is well known by many people and one can identify and associate with someone in particular.
