Help answer this question below.

Since the number of people with high levels is going up,causing the points people give to also go up, will it cause an exponential increase in point totals that will cause levels to rise quicker than the AB Staff anticipated and what can be done?

I believe that it will, and it is already causing some problems for me in rating. For instance, if I rate someone a +6, it may bump them above the current top answer (which in my opinion really IS the best one), but I want to give feedback...

- Perhaps the system should allow users to choose the amount of points they award, up to the maximum allowed by their level? The higher levels would still hold more power but would be able to give feedback without it being disproportionate...

- There's been talk of that on the blog for a long time. I think the AB staff is working on that.

There is no doubt in my mind an exponential accumulation of points will occur, but it will continue to be, after all, completely relative. A good solution would be to allow all levels to distribute a percentage of their maximum allowable points. This solution however defeats the relative nature of the existing structure.

- But when I worked by way through the lower levels, the average rating I received was a lot lower than the people that are starting out now. So, these people will have a much easier time raising to a high level because there are so many high raters out there.

It’s a pyramid! As long as there is allowable cyberspace for a base, it will grow taller. Ones in earliest will remain at the top. What will be done eventually, is that the AB creators will come up with ever increasing platitudes of wisdom ending in oracle. At your recent prolific rate drublic, you are a prime candidate for that title.
