This is not a proof that the pope did not read the Bible. I am quite certain that the actual pope did.
It is a proof that he does not take the Bible literally, like some fundamentalists.
Unlike some Christian Churches, Catholicism does not have the Bible as definitive authority, but the Magisterium.
"The task of interpreting the Word of God authentically has been entrusted solely to the Magisterium of the Church, that is, to the Pope and to the bishops in communion with him."
Source and further information:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magisterium
So *your* (or anyone else's) interpretation of the Bible is not authentic, from that point of view. Only the interpretation of the Magisterium is authentic.
If the pope says: "Violence is contrary to God's nature", you (or anybody else) cannot say that he is wrong, even based on your interpretation of the Bible - as long as you are Catholic, of course.
You cannot prove the pope wrong either, through logical means, because he is per definition right (inside Catholic logic).
Nope. Nothing that can be construed as proof in any way, shape or form.
I suppose you COULD take it on FAITH...but then you'd be coming dangerously close to crossing the line yourself...
:)

Nice source.
And by nice I mean biased, lacking in credibility, and burdened by the weight of it's own agenda.
The only people who will be influenced by this *ahem* "expose" are those who are already predisposed to dislike Catholicism.
Who cares if Ratzinger has read the hybrid Jewish-Greco-Roman bible? I don't think Ratzinger cares about its content either. The relevant point is the catholic perennial attitude of hiding it from its followers. They continue to teach a caricature (sacred story) in all of their schools. I can attest to that myself.
No because he has to have read the Bible because after three years of attending Mass you get to hear the whole Bible. So there is no proof.
