child support can not start until the birth. There is no need for a paternity test unless he is saying he is nOT the father. If that's the case, contact the court house/child support unit and tell them you need a court ordered paternity test..they will pay the cost (and he will have to reimuburse them). If the baby will be on any type of assistance (medical, food stamps, etc. ) she WILL have to declare him the father and he will have to pay support

The woman needs to contact the local Job and Family Services with a document from a physican or medical professional stating that she is pregnant with an approximate due date, an envelope with a bill of some sort with her name and address, her drivers license and social security card. They can obtain a medical card (insurance), a small monthly check for cash, and a food stamps card.

By any chance, are they legally married? If so, he is automatically legally considered the father no matter how much he denies it, and will be ordered to pay support. If the father is in denial of paternity, it's exactly as momofspoiledrottonchihuahua stated; the child has to be born, the man will undergo DNA testing, etc. After the baby is born, child support enforcement services will go after him (married to the mom or not), once paternity has been established. Visitation will also be set up. I went through this about 2 years ago with my daughter. I hope this helps.
