I have this same type of pain. I went through 5 months of doctors visits to come to a conclusion. I previously had a grapefruit sized ovarian cyst on my right side removed 2 years ago and some polyps removed as well. I felt like the pain was similiar to what I had when the cyst was present. I went in for all the gynecological testing, ultrasound... transvaginal ultrasound... pelvic exams, straight caths to check the bladder, and on and on. Everything was ruled out down there. Next step was GI related, had upper barium, lower barium, and colonoscopy... all normal (besides irritable bowel which is really nothing that can not be controlled with diet they said.) So on I went with burning stabbing horrible pains that caused me to double over at times and even vomit from extreme pain. I do have SI joint dysfunction and all lower 7 discs are herniated as well as severe nerve damage in my lower back. For 2 years I walked around a bit crooked due to the SI joint slipping, and after all those 5 months of ridiculous medical testing and a cat scan they found the new problem... soft tissue damage and bone spurs in my hip. There is not jack they can do, just upped my meds. They can not operate due to the deformities in my back that I have had since I was a child, if they fix the lower part (which would in turn cause less pressure on the hips) then the upper back would start curving more. Right now they think that the discs that are blown and problems I have are much better then fixing the lower part and having the upper part of the spine start herniating discs and subluxing. They say that then there would be a real problem, right now I am at no risk for paralysis, I just pee my pants once in a while but whooppitty ding, it is better than organ failure I suppose. I would definately get it checked out, but instead of going the route of checking organ function and soft tissue to start with, I would tell you doc to throw you in the xray room and do a cat scan right off the bat. I went through months of appointments and put myself in debt just to find out that it was a progression of disease that I already had and just a new symptom. I should have went to my spinal doc right away instead of piddy paddling around with everyone thinking it was a cyst, or cronic appendicitis or crohns. I have learned that if it is by the hip, it is 99% likely to be the hip or a nerve in the lower back that passes through the hip area. I hope you find an answer soon! =)
