Not at all. Expert titles either reveal a deliberate intention to be expert, an insistence on a given category, or total randomness. I have gotten a few expert titles because of a preference for subject matter -- but more so because of the random side. I have also lost expert titles, regularly. I don't get attached. The titles mean nothing. I enjoy answering questions in the wide variety of topics offered by my friends, and I can only chuckle that I had Sharks and Latin to my name when I last checked :)

I haven't noticed because the expert tag is not very accurate and I don't check everyone's profile to see who is an expert. An ABer becomes an expert just by answering the most questions in a particular category? Not a reliable way of determining an expert.

Not at all Expert titles are handed around and change hands daily depending on how many questions and points you get. You may only have one point more than another person. They answer a question and they take the category. I have been off for 3 months this time and have lost nearly 50 categories. My last 3 month break I lost about 40. In one day you could gain a lot of categories if you are close to the expert and they are not on site.
