  • I would mulch the leaves with a mulching lawnmower, doing so helps the soil, and at the same time saves alot of raking. This is what I do every fall.
  • It would be more beneficial to leave it around the trees to compost.
  • If it is heavily wooded it may be pointless to expect much. The trees will take all the nutrition you add. If you plant shade tolerant plants, they will probably need to be fertilized separately. If you just are trying to grow grass, then the mulching mower is a good idea. But you may have to add light, which may mean trimming or removing some of the trees.
